I was distracted from my reverie when Lu's niece patted my hand. Her other hand was occupied by a packet of green tea drink. And she said, "Gor Gor, 给你。"

"Okay, deep breaths...."mentally rang out as I took a deep breath, then slowly let it out. "Thank you. But erhm, I am not Gor Gor.... I am Jie Jie" to that, she gave me that same confused face every time I corrected her. Then sat down on the bed beside me and stare at the screen I have been staring at for the last 2 hours. (P.S: 那小脚晃啊晃的邮购可爱。)

Lu came in not so long after that, since her niece did not return. To find 2 people staring blankly at the computer screen.

"You should do the cleanup every once in a while, instead of it taking so long now. Oh and we need to get you another mouse."

My words broke the trance and the kid just blinked then stood to leave the room. Sometimes, I wonder...

While out getting the mouse, we got some groceries as I'm staying for dinner. End up getting caught in the rain so when back into the mall for another round of aimless window shopping.

As one can expect from the hospitality of Lu's sister, I was asked to stay for dinner. Home cooked meals are always great barter for service, and you can never go wrong with salmon and greens. Mushrooms, corn, garden green salad and mash potatoes tasted really good as well, and the ending note of a dessert; that carrot cake is heavenly.

Cleaned up and got back to systems updates, re-installations and patches. It wasn't until almost 11 when I finish up and the lull of the kid playing in the living room had turned into silence.

Waking Lu, who've fallen asleep waiting; and headed for the living room to once again thank her sister for the hospitality before going downstairs with Lu to the cab.

Well, all in a day's work I guess.

It was really quite a wonderful day out. I arrived at Kranji station mid-day and was hoping to have a wonderful day out exploring the Kranji Countryside.

The Kranji Countryside is one of the rare areas in Singapore that is set aside for agricultural development; where farmers can grow their own produce for cash, gives the general public a place for recreation and educating people on conservation.

Feeling 'green', K.L and I had decided to give this place a try. I print maps and planned routes ahead of time (I know I am very bad at directions so I should erhm, make up for it by beeing prepared?) and being excited, arrived early to scout the shuttle bus area for more information.

And K.L called and told me she's late. -_- What to do other than people watching and studying that shuttle bus route known as "The Kranji Express". The route starts out from Kranji MRT itself and then goes to Tropical Aerogreen / Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve --); Hausmann Marketing Aquarium --); Gardenasia (Nyee Phoe Group) --); Max Koi Farm --); D'Kranji Farm Resort --); Bollywood Veggies --); Hay Dairies --); Jurong Frog Farm --); Fireflies Health Farm and back Max Koi Farm back the previous route to MRT. Along the route are many other smaller farms and aquariums that are accessible by walking from the shuttle stops.

There was a couple lurking around the signboard at the shuttle service point and I was quite agitated because K.L was late for around half an hour and I did not see the bus service during that time. I was kind of wondering if the two of us has the skills to actually navigate into that area we want to explore when the couple approached me and ask if that was the start of the Kranji Express. I nodded and they just lingered around like me. Feeling adventurous, tried to plan a route so that we can explore as many place as possible.

K.L finally made it down and she was asking me if I need anything. Well, its hard to need anything when you've packed sandwiches, water, map... you get the idea. All I really need was a toilet in case I need to... go.

The elderly couple boarded the bus with us. People, we can use ez-link! And you only need to tap once. A standard charge of $2 applies. So if you board inside the Kranji Countryside you don't have to scan your card anymore~ The elderly couple ask the bus uncle lots of questions, some he can answer, others he can't. I end up answering some and even gave my extra copy of map to the couple.

The first stop that really caught my eye was near the Thow Kwang Industry where they have lots of pottery and porcelain. But K.L wants to stay on the bus more to see the various places before deciding where to alight. I looked at the time and decided that I should just go with the flow; we wouldn't be able to see the entire place with what little time left anyway.

The elder couple got down at some aquarium and we proceed on to... Bollywood Veggies which K.L really want to go see.

The first thing we saw when we alight at the outer gates were the guides.

There had been a light drizzle while we are on board and the grounds around us is a little wet but there are still lots of parents with kids in tow milling around the place. Following the route we walked down the main aisle passing(12,11,10,9,8,7) the Poison Ivy Bistro to look at all the trees, fruits and flowers up on display. The smell of the place is really earthly due to the rain and I am reminded of the times when I play at my Grand-father's backyard with all the chickens and herbs growing haphazardly. Or the time when my grandfather bring me out on trips to his plantations back in Malaysia.

The other thing that caught my eye and bring a chill breeze around is this:I can so imagine a little girl sitting on the swing with a doll in her arms, humming to songs that only she can hear herself. Eerie factor 80%!

Then there's the banana trees... There's a lot of banana trees here. All different bananas.Does this remind you of all those Malay horror stories you heard from the radio in the middle of the night? A bit. But I was more reminded of all the lovely bananas I've had since young. (It's not really bright daylight now so stop thinking about creepy stuff, you idiot!)

I had lots of fun walking around, taking pictures and well looking and all the greenery. Kudous to hunger pangs, I rejoin K.L and we went to the Poison Ivy for some of their specialty dishes. The dishes in the cafe is cooked in a no MSG, low salt style. We ordered a banana curry to be shared between the two, and the really special Moringa leaves tempura and flower tea.Apparently, Moringa is known as the miracle tree due to the nutritional value of its leaves and roots. The leaves of the tree contains 4 times the amount of calcium in milk and 7 times the amount of vitamin C in carrots (RAS 2009).

As we proceed to the outer gates, we met the elderly couple again. They waved at us and we had friendly chit-chat for awhile and when we talked about what we've explored in the Kranji Countryside, they told us this was their last stop and the previous bus driver uncle told them that was the last available shuttle for the day. O.o

Okay. You know that trick that people uses in the outback? The thumb sign that signifies the need of a free ride? lol The couple had been doing that at the gates for a couple of minutes before seeing us. I kind of face-palmed mentally.

However, we need to offer a big thank you to the elderly couple. They went back in and spoke with total strangers that drove there and actually manage to secure us all a ride out to the nearest MRT station!

The driver is a expat Dad in his thirties, who's son is working part-time in Poison Ivy cafe. He drove his son to work on weekends and would go fishing until its time for his son to knock off. Then drive him home. (The son is so fortunate.) We chatter idly until it was time for us to alight. Thank you again! (These are the kind of people that make you feel that there's still hope for humanity.)

Brought Mum to see the doctor. Since we are around Bugis area, I had an impromptu meet up with Ms Duh since God knows when(Sorry Siwon~ Oh.. and Ms Duh also). The weather's nice and chilly with spring rain to reckon a go at 鲜得来。I look at recipes while we were wait for the steamboat ingredients to come. Had such a hearty meal that we almost had to wade out of our seats.

Yupps. Must be the weather for everyone to come up with steamboat. Teresa couldn't make it because she's preparing for her wedding (OMG) so Jeylne, Natalie and I had fun at this steamboat outlet in Novena. Reminisce about the time where we're young and free of worldly happenings, then had a bitch fest about working life in general. The spicy soup base provide us with the fire we need to continue talking about that irate part of our lives for two hours. Well, at least we know we don't have to organise the next primary school meet-up. It will be at Teresa's wedding.

It's that time of the year, but I was surprised that we had it such ad-hoc-ly (omg is this even a word!?!) yesterday.

Went to the market early yesterday and got all the ingredients for my side of the food preparation, plus I need to smuggle out that little something I made specially for the group. Hope they like it. Photos will obviously be up but here's a sneak preview~
Now let me emo for a while.... Why I had to do Cesar Salad!?! So many ingredient and weird techniques I never try before... *pouts* So, I'll show you the recipe...

1/2 to 3/4 cup homemade croutons (see directions below)
1 coddled egg (see directions below)*
1 to 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic (1 to 2 medium cloves with inner green germ removed)
1 anchovy fillet, mashed**
Pinch of coarse salt 2 tablespoons (1/2 lemon) freshly squeezed lemon juice***
3 drops Worcestershire sauce
6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) freshly grated Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano),divided
1 head Romaine lettuce, hearts and tender leaves only
Coarsely ground black pepper

How to make croutons:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Trim the crust from day-old peasant-style bread (Italian or French bread) and dice into 3/4-inch cubes. Toss with enough olive oil to coat, but not drench. Sprinkle lightly with salt and spread out on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until just golden brown. Halfway through the baking time, give the pan a shake to make sure the croutons toast evenly. Remove from oven and completely cool croutons. Store in an airtight container.

How to coddle eggs:
Coddling causes the yolk to become slightly thickened and warm. Bring a very fresh egg to room temperature by immersing it in warm water (otherwise it might crack when coddled). Place the egg in a small bowl or mug and pour boiling water around the egg until it is covered. Let stand for exactly 1 minute. Immediately run cold water into the bowl until the egg can be easily handled; set aside.

How to make Caesar Salad dressing:
In a bowl, whisk together the garlic, anchovy, and salt until blended. Whisk in the lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk in the coddled egg until the mixture is thick, approximately 1 minute (this enable the lemon juice to "cook" the eggs). Slowly drizzle in the olive oil with one hand while vigorously whisking the mixture with the other. When the dressing is well combined, whisk in 2 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese.

How to assemble Caesar Salad:
Separate the Romaine leaves and discard the coarse outer leaves. Wash, drain, and pat with paper towels or spin dry the remaining leaves. Note: Lettuce should be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to use. Tear into bite-size pieces and set aside.

In a large wooden salad bowl, add 1/3 of the dressing and toss with the croutons until well coated. Add the Romaine lettuce pieces and the remaining dressing; toss until coated.

How to serve Caesar Salad:
Divide the salad between chilled plates and sprinkle each salad with the remaining 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese and coarsely ground pepper.

Serve immediately with chilled forks.

So I didn't exactly follow the recipe.

For croutons, I used garlic bread toasted dry. Then, I substitute mayonnaise with plain sugar free yogurt because someone don't eat mayonnaise. I add additional Worcestershire sauce (1/2 teaspoon more) and another slice of lemon just in case.

My rendition of this salad is also without anchovies. Even though I did the coddled egg thing (which was a little fail because we end up with half of the egg whites in it too) we still lack the 'meat' flavor. So what I did was toss in lots of cheese.

Also, I let people decide between the croutons or the barbecue crisp I brought along. Overall, it wasn't a fail, but it is not something I will attempt again.

The procession of the barbecue was interesting as I switch between the chores of managing fire, sorting out food and ultimately ended up whipping some mango chicken, drunken bbq prawns, cheesy beef slabs and other impromptu dishes.

The vibe wasn't as good as I hope for and we had a few incidents but overall, the gathering ended without mishap. (Sort of.)

I have to thank Andrew for specially coming over to drive me home. If not, I would've throw a tantrum. Definitely.

I should have known this would happen. "Queuing will not be entertained" my ass! Korean Pop Night Concert ticket 果然一票难求。

Neng and I got to the venue at 9am, being the law-abiding Singaporean we are. We failed at being the 'kiasu' Singaporean we should be. Apparently, a queue had already started on the night before the official ticketing starts. Even police and ambulance were called in.

More crazy shit ensues when I heard from my friend that while queuing (unofficial) the staff of 313 attempt to move them away from the main building by giving out queue tags. Unfortunately, these disorientated people cannot differentiate the start of the queue to the end of the queue, thus giving a 100+ people advantage.

And then the first thing I heard when I reach that place was the 'first person' queuing over night had already gotten his 10 tickets. Holy f***tard!

Can you imagine how desperate we were? Good thing we meet Zeke on the scene and some kind fellow K-pop fans. Lucky for us, we finally got 2 queue numbers on our side. Thanks Azrul.Though the number we got was a bit... far back? Like I say, lucky for us we only need 7 tickets in total (after much calling and such).

Since they say we can come back later when its our queue number's turn, we decided to go do whatever we have to do and meet back. So, Neng and I walked to Plaza Singapura for lunch. I met Ruth there! Such coincidence.

After lunch, we walked to Suntec for the IT fair. Which was in a way crazy too. (The fair, not the walk...) That's also when I realize all the events going on (the Peranakan Food Fair, the Rock Band Competition, the IT Fair, the Korean Concert queue...)

There, I met up with Drew and Pat. We shopped around but I was horridly distracted by the constant calls back and forth (live updates from 313 lol). Much too soon, Zeke told me he's lining up. I contacted Neng and we ran all the way down (with a friend of his...) On the way, as we neared 313 a guy and a girl stopped us suddenly. *打 brake* The girl made a grab for my hand and kept saying things like "OMG you're so WHITE! Are you local!?!..." and I was totally O_O because I didn't know how to react. Lucky for me, Neng's friend just grab my other hand and pull! All the while during our 'escape route' he calls out "Sorry we're in a hurry~"

Well, we managed to reach there on time (Zeke is like 3 person from the ticketing booth) and...See ya all there!!! *Huge Grins*

After that, I walked back to Suntec and got the news that Pat got himself an Iphone 4!!! We had this conversation like 3 hours ago:

Pat: Should I get an Iphone 4?
Me: I heard it breaks easily, due to all the glass surface. And you being so careless... (I let it trail off for effect.)
Pat: But really, should I get an Iphone 4, since the company is paying and all...?
Me: You must consider, do you really need it? (Gist is my disapproval, no?)
Pat: So I shouldn't get one?
Me: Yah, most probably not...

Anyway, Ying哥 is obviously better at the persuasion game. So Pat got his Iphone 4.

Then we went for steamboat dinner; in which Sam can't make due to his broken leg, Drew almost got killed despite the care we took to separate our utensils, Pat ran back to Suntec to get his Iphone 4 (O.o), Gina got confused by speaking policies with us and Ying哥 almost got me to drink.

Also, Drew "拌屎" onto himself, got angry and slam table. I got pissed off at him on that point.

Which kind of conclude my very hectic day.

Suffering from crazy ass back pain since last Sunday. Seriously think I pull something; didn't know what though. I had been going around bending like an old lady, can't even straighten my back up. Sad right?

All we did was... Well, all I did was look after Ced's bait, listen to music, make muffins, eat Japanese dinner, bowled and Dance Dance Revolution. Like what the heck broke my back?

All of us got some stuff, but still did not find the wallet of my dreams. Is it too difficult to make a wallet that is smoothed, onyx glossed to a perfection with coin pocket with button, no zips, a metal part and enough card slots? It's not like I'm asking for the impossible.

"What did you get?", you asked? Books, comics, bags... only 1/3 items on my list I bought, many that I didn't listed too. What does it says about me???

Met Cin and RX on the 21st and we chatted. Took picture of "Hashi" too. Restaurant City is taking up my life *laughs*.Supposed house-warming @ Drew's. Pot-luck became Japanese food at a restaurant and ice-cream after. What can I say, lazy? Oh, I can say that... Magnum Gold taste good...

Major build-up. A lot of allocated meet-ups. Some crash and burned, others neglected, one even combusted on itself.

I met Carol on 17.12.09 and 23.12.09. How long since the last contact? 2 or 3 years ago? Time really flies... Reminisces on life long ago and laugh at old stuff. We had fun. *Still waiting for photos*

23.12.09 - Met Ying in train station. Chat below our block and had fun sharing perfumes.

24.12.09 - The most impromptu meet-up ever. Poly clan met and chat. Aston was wonderfully... interesting. And so approaches Christmas~ *Photos here*

29.12.09 - Lunch很补。 Night spent at Down Town East, Da Jie's chalet. Somehow, I rubbed people off the wrong way.

30.12.09 - Frog Porridge! Bodyguards and Assassins brings out random patriotism. I sniffled.

31.12.09 - Almost forgot we were meeting up. Quite 欠打 right? We ate at T.C.C and went KBOX. There was a system change but we manage to grasp it and manhandled it the rest of the way. Siti and I had fun singing malay songs. Major language crossing ensues. Korean, Chinese, Canto, Spanish, English, Japanese... We went crazy with the remote and bouts of giggles. Counted down and shouted "Happy New Year" at Cindy in the toilet~ then ran out to watch fireworks without her. Too bad she called me when the best part of fireworks happened. I was recording a video of it. Laughed at everyone's childish antics, whistling and randomly standing very still to avoid getting "attacked" by sprays. Then getting swamped on the road and took the train home.

Shoot some hoops, chatted and had a nice drive. Curry Fish Head then movie. "Old Dogs" was hilarious. I think Med and Iris even choked on their pop-corn and drinks respectively. I just grew breathless with peals of unending laughter. What to do? 我笑点太低了。

16 August, S.T.G.C.C
In which Andrew flew kites, Eugene got bored and Patrick got sand into his eyes… Well, not really but since they don’t read my blog they wouldn’t care right? Neng and I stood all throughout the cosplay competition and I thought I was going to have leg cramps. Cindy joined us a little later. We amble around aimlessly and bought lots of stuff. Not many pictures, so there’s no point posting. Oh, T.C.C for dinner was nice.

26 August, Japanese Food
Cannot remember why we met up but Cindy and I had dinner at one of Central’s Japanese restaurant. Ladies enjoy a discount on Wednesday. The set meal was quite worth it.

29 August, Steakhouse
It was supposed to be an outing with Phing, Iris and Med to celebrate my birthday. Quite a last minute thing so Med and Iris gave up. Phing and I went to have Marutama Ramen at Liang Court like I mentioned in my previous post “Eating Eating”. The standard was there and I think the Spicy Chicken Ramen tasted the same. We booked a room for two at Party World and shopped around Kino while we wait for our turn. The two of us had a lot of fun singing, no one to horde the mic, and the room given was big. They even have a leg massager inside. I was overjoyed to see Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry” Wonder Girl’s “Nobody” and Phing felt the same with Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” and so many songs from Britney. Dinner at Steakhouse was good. The sirloin was up to standard and the serving was actually quite big. Prices are on the “deep pockets” range so if you’re not willing to fork out your money, then do not go there. The must try will definitely be their Crème Brulee. Best in Singapore. (I don’t know about JB and Batam.) On the way back, I saw Serene and her supposed new boyfriend Bang. Which is supposed to give more ammunition for the…

30 August, Alleged gossip session slash 见家长日
My daughter has the tendency to fall in love too hard too fast. It is not on my side of the family. Serene, blame it on your other father, okay? We did not meet Bang but it turn out bad anyway. Gossip and more gossip end the night.

Yes, I was in Malaysia for my birthday. Work hard and the family trip seems so much more rewarding. I bought a lot of stuff, mostly books though. Since Facebook is not cooperating with the upload, maybe I will post the pictures on Multiply… Wait, let me try again.

14 to 18 September, Major Toilet Construction
Leak downstairs caused a lot of hassle. It’s a good thing Dad’s in this line or it would’ve caused a lot more trouble in the future. Trust me, I know.

19 to 20 September, Cindy’s place
Last minute thing, but since Cindy’s parents are not in so we thought it was okay. Too bad I didn’t bring my swimming gear and Cindy’s got a paper to write on. I stared at the TV and the TV stared at me. Oh 小强’s issue ensues some time between fashion programs and water boiling… Serene and I lazily watched “Ultraviolet” as Hari Raya creeps in.

21 September, Outing
Fizh 请客！It’s been so long since we saw each other. Good food at the place he worked and lovely gossips at the ice-cream parlor. Bowling for three rounds, with substandard results though Patrick showed improvements. Dinner at “Cafeteria” was… not good. The mushroom soup had a Chinese mushroom smell and taste, the spaghetti’s base sauce tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup and looks just as diluted. My steak tasted like Chinese Stir Fry and I don’t even want to comment on the other food. The few orders that would’ve gotten a pass would be the carrot and orange juice, (how do you mess up fresh juice?) the signature dessert and the calamari rings. Oh and the black forest dessert was okay too. I vow not to order main course there again.

Wasted quite a bit of money because I did not get into the mood, which is kind of weird due to the fact that I love singing. Tell me why?

Med, Phing and I went for MARUTAMA RAMEN at The Central. For a price range of $15 - $20+ though some might consider it on the steep side, this is really good ramen we are talking about. I would recommend egg lover to try the seasoned egg. Total IBS.
Heard from Phing that the Spicy Chicken Ramen taste better here than in Liang Court's branch. Maybe I should go try it out and see if that's true.

The much anticipated T.C.C new menu is here! Cin and I shared a full course and here's the review.
Cin's usual Iced Kafello Latte, skinny without whipNew tea. Vaguely remember tasting mint, lemongrass and ginger. Smells like bubble-gum.Soup of the day: Chili Beef. 比较像华汤，instead of the usual thickness of ang moh soup. Volume of the taste still there, spicier and there's a higher presence of sweetness from all the added broad red beans and carrots. Smaller beef pieces, but an increase in meat quantity. Side-note: Ginseng Chicken Mushroom is still on the menu.Garden Salad with added Salmon. It's worth the add on, trust me. As I type, I can still feel the chilled salmon in my mouth, slowly melting. That nice? Yes. Veggies are nicely crisp and reminds me of winter morning walks. And those little biscuity pieces and bacon flakes that I do so adore. Made for the win.This pan-sheared salmon 的置盘很漂亮。墨西哥辣椒的辛辣，摆一边的综合番茄丁、微辣，略带印度风味香料，清爽的口感，很适合配着三文鱼一起吃。芥兰花, 莲藕和马铃薯的搭配很新鲜。唯一败笔，处理 芥兰花,莲藕和马铃薯的手法稍嫌油腻。A very filling dish indeed.This season's dessert style is more mousse-based. Not usually what I preferred. We have to eat this separately and it is consider a bit too sweet for me; especially the strawberry sauce at the bottom. The rest of the dessert is actually acceptable.5 August
Just goes to show this blog is turning into a food blog. Met Cin after jungle hike. We plan for T.C.C to explore more of the new menu but couldn't resist going in when we pass by. I present you, Mr. Curry!The mascot at the door.Sides, we ordered the beef wrap and it was really nice and juicy. 肉不会太老，菇类吸收了肉汁，咬下去很清甜。剩下的酱汁很好下饭。Cute! Kid's meal.Nice interior and lighting.Near entrance.Cashier.虾仁蛋包饭咖哩。蛋滑，虾肉弹牙饱满。咖哩虽然叫了最辣的等级,但不够辣。这是日本咖哩一向的特点,无法多下判断。基本上,蛮不错吃的。Chips都炸的恰大好处、面包外皮酥脆、内在松软绵密、咖哩料多实在、tempura咬下时还有汁！是个卖相可爱，分量相当的一餐。Some other random pictures we took.We are so amused by the mascot that we got the mobile straps. Cute right, Cin has Mr Curry, I own the Curry Kitty. Funny thing is, for the two mobile strap they give us a big paper bag and two pieces of wrapping paper. *sweat dropped* Oh!
